Creason Day 1

I learned that almost everything a teacher does in his or her classroom could be seen as a violation of a copyright law. In United States history I show lots of films that help provide visual representation of the material we have covered. I did not realize that this might be a violation of a copyright law. Our entire department has its own "video cabinet." It appears this cabinet is full of copyright violations.

From what I took from today's material, not all of the movies would be a copyright violation. Wouldn't showing a movie sold in one of the school supply flyers I get in the mail be ok? The problem seemed to be the Hollywood movies meant to be shown at home. The copyright is for private home viewing not for an audience.
