Blogging Away 3/28/09

I loved learning about blogs and wikis. What a great way to engage students in meaningful conversation and activities that are technologically and academically relevant. Standard #3 of the ISTE technology standards for teachers, focused on teachers modeling digital-age work and learning. Blogs and wikis seem like effective ways to accomplish the standards while engaging students in learning. The only problem I have is that our CIPA filter at school currently blocks blogs. However, after seeing the many benefits of these technological tools in education, I hope to be able to persuade our tech director to not only allow students access to my blogs, but also provide professional development for other teachers to develop educational blogs and wikis.
